From CBC, Quebec sees growth in English-speaking population:

The number of English-speaking Quebecers is on the increase for the first time in 30 years due to immigration, along with a slowdown in the outflow of Quebec anglophones.

The number has grown by about 5.5 per cent between the censuses of 2001 and 2006, reversing a trend that began in the early 1970s when provincial language policies and a push for Quebec sovereignty prompted many English-speaking residents to move elsewhere.

The influx includes people moving from other provinces, as well as an increase in immigration by English-speaking people from south Asian countries.

Also from CBC, Ottawa accused of ignoring bilingual policy:

The city of Ottawa is neglecting its francophone community and ignoring its bilingualism policy, says a francophone advocacy group.

Claudette Boyer, head of the Ottawa chapter of L’Association canadienne-française de l’Ontario (ACFO), told CBC News the city isn’t following its 2001 policy that gives francophones the same rights and privileges as anglophones. […]

"We always have to fight for what we want. It makes me frustrated and disappointed that we always have to remind [people that] … oh, francophones are here," she told CBC News in a recent interview.

Canadian province Quebec has made it illegal to sell only English language versions of new video games, if a French version of the same title is also available somewhere else in the world.

As reported by newspaper The Toronto Star and French-language site Jouez.com, the new law came into force on April 1st and has caused worries on the part of retailers that it could lead to delays in the release of new games.

If a French version of a game is available — for example, in France or other French-speaking countries — then Quebec retailers must soon carry a French or bilingual version of the title to continue being able to sell the game.

The deal was signed by l’Office quebecois de la langue francaise and the Entertainment Software Association of Canada in September 2007. At the time, publishers and retailers were given over 18 months of time to prepare for the changeover, which occurred April 1, 2009.

Après les cégeps et les écoles privées techniques, l’Université Laval prend officiellement le train de la formation en animation 3D. L’institution d’enseignement accueille d’ailleurs actuellement ses premiers étudiants au sein d’un nouveau programme de baccalauréat en art et science de l’animation.

L’Université n’aurait pu rêver mieux comme milieu pour démarrer son nouveau programme que l’École des arts visuels, située en plein quartier Saint-Roch, dans les locaux de l’édifice de La Fabrique. Le secteur fourmille en effet d’entreprises de haute technologie 3D telles Ubisoft, Beenox ou Sarbakan, pour ne nommer que celles-là. La ville de Québec démontre d’ailleurs la plus forte croissance de la province quant au développement de l’emploi dans le domaine du divertissement interactif.

À deux jours de son ouverture, le festival de jeux vidéo Arcadia, qui a obtenu du gouvernement du Québec des commandites d’au moins 25 000$ l’année dernière, est dans la tourmente. Plusieurs de ses fournisseurs poursuivent le producteur pour non-paiement de factures datant de 2007.

Tennis Canada, propriétaire du stade Uniprix, où a eu lieu le festival l’année dernière, s’ajoute aux créanciers et réclame 109 000$ pour rupture de contrat.
