And then, when you need more, you have to pay up. A2M and 505 Games have employed this classic strategy for the release of a new piece of Naughty Bear DLC, dubbed “Chapter 9.” The add-on is out today on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, but unlike the previous DLC release, it’ll cost you: 400 Microsoft Points or $4.99, respectively.

Chapter 9 introduces the Island of Perfection, replete with “exclusive hidden treasures, deadly weapons and brutal buccaneers,” and two boss bears for the cuddly curmudgeon to conquer: Admiral Giggles and The Great Bear Beard. The DLC also includes four new challenges.
Fresh from a relatively popular Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 title and a few Halo: Reach cameos, Naughty Bear is back and smaller than ever.
As in the console versions, Naughty will take his vengeance out on his fellow bears using a wide variety of weapons and traps. The one significant change is a new top-down perspective, zooming in when things get brutal. […]

The standout of the three trailers is probably the Blair Witch parody we’ve embedded above. While the homage to the movie is appreciated, it’s a little low on bear-on-bear violence for our taste. The other two trailers, thankfully, fall a bit closer to the mark. The second is actually a snippet from the third level of the game, which tasks Naughty Bear with destroying cameras mounted on birds (no, really). Finally, the third trailer gives us the violence we crave, as the demented fiend pushes a poor, defenseless comrade into a giant cake mixer.

Can’t wait to try it out! Does this remind anyone a bit of the game Conker’s Bad Fur Day or the cartoon Happy Tree Friends ?

Looks like Montreal’s own A2M is keeping busy these days! Here are a few updates.

From Shacknews:

Exploring the sadistic side of stuffing, developer Artificial Mind and Movement (A2M) today unveiled tortuous action game Naughty Bear.

Coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in Q2 2010 via publisher 505, the latest from WET alum A2M tells of a teddy bear "waging psychological warfare on unsuspecting victims."

After being blamed time and time again for everything wrong on the "Island of Perfection," Naughty Bear snapped when he wasn’t invited to the "big birthday party." Now, he’s armed with "a large selection of unique ways to cause naughtiness" including "brutal weapons," with the various approaches scored on a scare-based point system.

From Kotaku:

After a brief delay following our last release announcement for Artificial Mind & Movement’s kung fu beat-em-up, Revenge of the Wounded Dragons is finally hitting the North American PlayStation Store this week, we hope.

Originally scheduled for release on November 24th, the PlayStation Blog post we culled the information from on Revenge of the Wounded Dragons was updated to reflect a brief delay shortly after we posted the news. The dragons went back into hiding for around two weeks, and according to Sony Online Entertainment, they’re ready to kick some ass on your PlayStation 3 this Thursday, December 10th.
