From a guest post on NextMontreal:
Crankshaft Games (www.crankshaftgames.com, @crankshaftgames) is a Montreal team of indie game developers that brought you the award-winning Half-Life 2 mod Eternal Silence. Currently, Crankshaft games is focusing on their next title, Party of Sin, to be released on Xbox Live Indie Games.
We had the chance to ask Alexander Galasso and his team a few questions.
NextMontreal: When and how did Crankshaft Games get started?
Crankshaft Games: Crankshaft Games was originally started as a modding community for the Source engine. There were about 30 members who contributed to the development of our first title Eternal Silence, a multiplayer space and FPS hybrid. Eternal Silence formed a nice community and eventually released for free on Steam. The project lead of Eternal Silence, Daniel Menard, wanted to branch off into different genres. He started Party of Sin as Crankshaft’s follow up title. Crankshaft continues to support the development of Eternal Silence while working on Party of Sin. [...]

Sorry for the last minute update…
From TAG (Concordia’s Technoculture, Art and Games):
Just a reminder for this Wednesday’s weekly symposium [September 15th] at 5PM at TAG lab (EV 11. 425, Concordia University)
September 15: Lumines is the game of choice for the night. Saleem has undertaken to bring in Halo: Reach, as well.
Next week:
September 22: Amanda is going to be demoing Propinquity for some feedback before she goes off to Copenhagen to show off her work. (http://www.tag.hexagram.ca/?page_id=363)
UPDATE!
On the announcement for next week, can you add that Cindy will be
leading a drinking game design session (”a practice-based
investigation into embodied gameplay using a hybrid chemical
interface”)? Sorry I didn’t mention it sooner, it kinda came up on a
whim, and judging from last week it worked well to have two activities
happening in parallel. Plus — if people are liquored up my demo will
go over better.

Update: Dawson shooting video game yanked
From CBC:
Montreal police are investigating an online video game that replicates the shooting rampage at Dawson College that killed a student and injured several more four years ago.

Students at the post-secondary college said they’re shocked anyone would create a game about the violent tragedy.
Anastasia DeSousa, 18, was killed and 19 other students were injured when a gunman opened fire at the downtown CÉGEP college in September 2006. The gunman killed himself in the school.
The aim of the free online game is to "storm Dawson College with your favourite rifle, and kill those students and kill any cops you can," according to one of the sites where it is available.
A slide show featuring pictures of the gunman and his collection of weapons also shows quotes he published on his blog prior to his attack at the college.
When the game begins, playersd have to fire at as many students as possible before police arrive. […]
